The Gatemen offense picked up right where it left off from last night. Braiden Ward (Washington) advanced to 1ston an error and did what he did best stealing 2ndbase. Jacob Teter (Florida Southern) sent Ward home on a double into deep left.

The Gatemen offense coming into the game only had 5 runs in the past 3 games. Wareham has thrived on good offensive play all season but were in its worst offensive stretch. Last night the offense came alive and the Gatemen snapped a 2-game losing streak.

The Gatemen had a chance to do damage in the first inning but stranded runners on the corners. Braiden Ward (Washington) got on with a walk, Jacob Teter (Florida Southern) hit a single and two fielder’s choices put runners on 1stand 3rd. Dallas Beaver (South Carolina) flew out to end the inning.

Braiden Ward (Washington) opened the game getting on base with an infield single. From there Ward did what he does best stealing 2ndbase and advancing to 3rdon a wild throw to 2nd.  Team RBI leader Jacob Teter (Florida Southern) collected his 23rdof the season sending home Ward on a hard single to center giving the Gatemen a 1-0 lead. Franco Aleman (Florida International) came into the game with a perfect 0.00 ERA but Teter spoiled that.

The Gatemen struck first in the bottom half of the first inning. Matt McLain (UCLA) got on with a walk, Jacob Teter (Florida Southern) advanced McLain to 2ndon a bunt and Adrian Del Castillo (Miami) sent McLain home on a hard hit single up the middle.

The Gatemen offense has been in a slight slump the last 4 games but looked ready to go in the first inning. Braiden Ward (Washington) got on with a single and advanced to 2ndon a steal. Darren Baker (Cal Berkeley) hit a single of his own putting runners on the corners with no outs. Ward scored on a wild pitch making it 1-0 Gatemen.

“I felt good I got ahead early in counts and mixed in my off speed pitches to keep batters off balance pretty well” Prater said. “I felt a little bit of rust early on when trying to use my breaking ball but I figured things out pretty fast.”
