Wareham Looks to End Losing Streak in Yarmouth

The Wareham Gatemen travel to Red Wilson Field to take on the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox tonight. The Gatemen head into the contest on a three-game losing streak, and desperately need a win to create some separation from the Falmouth Commodores, as they fight for the last playoff spot in the West division.

Jonathan Brand (Auburn) will take the mound tonight for Wareham. Brand will be making his fourth start of the Cape Cod Baseball League season. The Auburn commit has pitched 12 innings this season and has a 4.50 ERA with ten strikeouts.

Yarmouth-Dennis is expected to start Jared Lyons (George Mason) for the third time this season. He has also appeared in a game as a reliever and holds a 2-0 record across 15 innings pitched. Lyons has been impressive with 22 strikeouts while just allowing five hits all season.

The Gatemen desperately need the offense to get going if they are going to turn things around. Bryan Padilla (UConn) and Hogan Windish (UNC Greensboro) have been bright spots in the order with Padilla batting .400 and Windish sitting at .303. Wareham needs some other guys to step up and deliver big hits if they want to have a chance tonight against an ace like Lyons.

Wareham looks for their seventh win of the season while the Red Sox look for win number 12. First pitch is scheduled for 5pm barring any weather issues. For complete game notes click here
