Wareham Dominates Yarmouth-Dennis 11-3

The Wareham Gatemen visited the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox on Saturday night searching for a win. Wareham came out and dominated from start to finish in the 11-3 thrashing.

The Gatemen got on the board first in the top half of the 3rd inning plating two runs. Blake Wright (Clemson) started the inning off with a single into left center. Hogan Windish (UNC Greensboro) then ripped a two-run home run over the left center wall to put Wareham up 2-0.

Wareham blew the game open in the top half of the 4th inning scoring five runs. Ryan Campos (Arizona St.) launched a solo shot over the right field wall. The Red Sox then walked the bases loaded for Jack Housinger (Xavier). The Musketeer worked an RBI walk, making it four straight walks for the Y-D staff. Windish then came up and ripped an RBI single that scored Wright. The fun did not stop there as Max Anderson (Nebraska) laced a two RBI single of his own to put the Gatemen up 7-0.

The Red Sox struck back in the bottom half of the 4th scoring three of their own. Michael Boeve (Nebraska) reached on an error by the shortstop and then scored on an RBI double off the bat of Caden Connor (Cal St. Fullerton). Jonathan Long (Cal St. Long Beach) snuck a two-run home run just over the right field wall to cut into the Gatemen lead and make it 7-3.

The Gatemen piled on four more runs throughout the contest. Carter Graham (Stanford) delivered a sacrifice fly to score a run and Peter Burns (Boston College) drove in two on a single. This tied the Gatemen’s season high run total at 11.

Cameron Weston (Michigan) was phenomenal out of the Gatemen bullpen. He went four scoreless innings and registered five strikeouts in his dominance.

The Gatemen improve to 7-11-1 on the season and are back in action on Sunday at Spillane Field when they take on the Bourne Braves.
