Welcome, the Wareham Gatemen Baseball Organization is a non-profit organization made up entirely of volunteers who love the game of baseball. As a franchise member of the historic Cape Cod Baseball League that celebrated its’ 100th anniversary in 2023, we work year-round to provide our players, interns, and the community at large with a memorable summer baseball experience. Historically, the Gatemen became members of the CCBL in 1927 and won their first League Championship in 1930.

On the field, our players will work with our highly qualified coaching staff which will focus 100% of their efforts to develop the skills needed to become a successful professional in the game of wood-bat baseball. We pride ourselves in offering our players the best equipment and the use of suitable facilities to improve as a player. Off the field, players participate in reading programs, youth clinics, community meet and greets, and various other community events in which players will gain valuable life experiences that will help shape them into responsible young men. In fact, a recent Gatemen, Paul Skenes was drafted Number One in the Major League Draft. We’ve had many interns that have been hired by MLB as well.

The Gatemen make a significant financial contribution to our communities. On average, four members of each player’s family come to visit during the summer for at least one week. They patronize our restaurants, hotels, bed & breakfast, and shops contributing nearly $200,000.00 to our community each summer. Thus, the Gatemen are a community asset, which we all can enjoy and benefit from all summer long. In addition, the Gatemen have spent over 1.8 million dollars over the past 40 years maintaining and improving Spillane Field for the benefit of all Wareham athletics. A few years ago we installed a new Scoreboard at Spillane Field. This Scoreboard enhances the fan’s enjoyment of the game and provides the Town of Wareham with a forum to host large gatherings for both entertainment and town business. The Gatemen have also sponsored a few movie nights for the community. We want to thank the John Wylde Trust and the Wylde family for their very generous contribution which made this possible.

In closing, I want to personally thank all of our volunteers who spend countless hours year-round working toward the objective of making our organization better. Without their efforts, very little of what we all have come to expect would be possible. I truly appreciate your hard work and support. I would like to extend an invitation to all of you to become a member of the Gatemen family. We’re always looking for new Volunteers, Host Families, Bat Kids, Sponsors, Game Day Interns, National Anthem singers, or in any way you can contribute.

GO GATEMEN!!!!!!!
