COTUIT – If today’s start for RHP Joey Matulovich was the final of his Gatemen career, he had two incredible seasons in Wareham. Matulovich was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in round 20 of this June’s draft and could be leaving Wareham soon. The signing deadline for all draft picks comes later this week, July 6, meaning tonight may be the last time Matulovich pitches as a Gatemen.

WAREHAM – The Wareham Gatemen entered play last night as the best defense in the entire Cape League with just 11 errors committed. Uncharacteristically, the Gatemen made a season-high four errors in a game they ultimately lost 6-5 to the Red Sox.

WAREHAM – Tuesday night, the Gatemen offense scattered 12 hits and had only one run to show for it. Tonight, the Gatemen got a rally going in the second when six straight hitters reached base. Wareham scored four runs in the second to push the lead to 5-0 and they never looked back.

HYANNIS – For Gatemen starter Ken Waldichuk, the third time around was not the charm. Waldichuk got lit up for six runs on seven hits in 3.1 innings during his third start of the season as the Gatemen fell out of first place losing 9-1 to the Hyannis Harbor Hawks.
