The Gatemen travel to Stony Brook Elementary to face the Brewster Whitecaps after Sunday night’s thrilling 7-6 comeback win against last year’s CCBL champions, the Bourne Braves.

Last year, the Whitecaps represented the East Division in the finals against Bourne, but fell short in the best of three series. In 2022, the Gatemen went 1-2-1 against Brewster and will work to change that this season.

Stony Brook is a familiar spot for manager Ryan Smyth. Smyth served as an assistant coach for the Whitecaps from 2016-2022 before coming to Wareham. During his time in Brewster, Smyth worked alongside manager Jamie Shevchik to win back-to-back championships.

Smyth will need to draw from what he learned in his time in Brewster to help lead the Gatemen to victory.

After early pitching struggles to start off Sunday night, Danny Frontera (Seton Hall) came in and threw a fantastic six innings and only gave up two hits while striking out four batters.

Lefty Mark Manfredi (Dayton) looks to take inspiration from Frontera for his second start of the season. In his first outing, Manfredi went four innings and only allowed two hits and a run compared to five strikeouts.

Fans can tune in to the Gatemen Gamecast Broadcast on YouTube with pregame coverage starting at 4:45 at Stony Brook Elementary.
