Wednesday night’s matchup provides a must-win situation for Wareham as the Gatemen play host to the Harwich Mariners at Spillane Field. Wareham comes into the night after a 10-6 loss on the road to the Orleans Firebirds thanks to a plethora of home runs by Orleans.

The Gatemen need a win tonight for a shot to stay in the playoff race, as they currently sit 11 points out of fourth place in the West Division. The Mariners lead the series 2-1, but Wareham will look to end the series in a tie.

Chase Chatman will make his first Gatemen start on the mound this season. The lefty out of St. Thomas has appeared in three games for Wareham and tossed 4.2 innings of work. In his last outing against Cotuit on July 21, Chatman held the Kettleers scoreless and hitless in his one inning of work. He owns a 5.78 ERA and has allowed just three hits and two walks.

First pitch from Spillane Field is set for 6 p.m. with pregame coverage on the Gatemen Baseball Network beginning at 5:45.
