Jacob Teter and surging Wareham offense put up 11 runs against Brewster Whitecaps

BREWSTER- The flood gates opened for the Gatemen in the 9thinning putting up 8 runs and the Wareham pitching staff held Brewster hitless for 6 innings in 11-0 blow-out victory over the White Caps
Cam Tringali (South Carolina) earned the loss but he had a solid outing for the White Caps. Tringali went 4.1 innings allowing 2 runs on 4 hits striking out 5 batters. Tringali is now 1-2 on the season with both losses coming against the Gatemen.
One of the hits Trinagli allowed was to Jacob Teter (Florida Southern) in the first inning. Coming into the game Teter was batting .333 which ranked as the 3rdbest batting average in the CCBL and he started off his impressive night with a single.
Jonathon Gates (Miami) had a solid outing but only lasted 2 innings as he struggled to keep his pitch count low. Gates went 2 innings only allowing 2 hits and no runs.
Joseph Baran (East Stroudsburg) took over for Gatemen in the 3rd inning. The White Caps offense had no answer for Baran. Baran pitched 2 innings of no hit baseball. In the 4th inning the Wareham offense broke through.
Teter launched his first home run of the season over the right field fence giving Wareham a 1-0 lead. Teter has burst on to the scene starting the year 0-10 and is now 15-29 since then.
“I have been seeing the ball a lot better” Teter said. “I had a hit in my first at-bat and thought they would come at with some more off speed pitches but when I got the fastball I got my hands on it and it happened to go yard.”
Tringali’s start was then spoiled by Sems who sent home a run on a single ripped up the middle making it 2-0.
Brandon Pfaadt (Bellarmine) took over for Baran in the 6th inning.
Pfaadt has been a sensation for the Gatemen this season coming into tonight only allowing 2 hits and no runs in 8 innings of work. It was business as usual for Pfaadt as he pitched 4 innings allowing no hits and struck out 5 batters.
2 passed balls in the 7th inning resulted in Braiden Ward (Washington) jogging home making it 3-0.
The real damage was dealt in the 9thinning once Carson Coleman (Kentucky) and Peyton Alford (Virginia Tech) came in for the 8thinning.
Tora Otsuka (San Diego) hit a ground rule double sending home 2 runs making the score 5-0. Things went from bad to worse as Coleman loaded the bases with no outs. Teter hit an RBI single making it 6-0 and Kameron Guangorena (Fullerton) was hit by a pitch making it 7-0.
Coleman didn’t record an out allowing 3 runs on 3 hits. Alford came in trying to keep it a 7-0 game heading into the 9th. Sems hit a 2 RBI single to left field extending the lead to 9-0. For the icing on the top Matt McLain (UCLA) hit a 2 RBI triple making the score 11-0. Alford allowed 5 runs on 4 hits.
Pfaadt was awarded the win for his 4 no hit innings and is now 2-0 this season. The Gatemen improved to (7-5-1) as the Brewster White Caps fell to (6-6-1). Wareham now has sole possession of the lead in the West Division with 1 more point than the Cotuit Kettleers.
Teter finished the game going 3-4 with 2 RBI, Sems was 3-5 with 3 RBI, and McLain was 2-5 with 2 RBI. These 3 players and the rest of the Gatemen team will be in Boston tomorrow to workout at Fenway Park.
We are all seeing the ball really well right now and hunting fastballs early in counts” Teter said. “The Red Sox are my favorite team and I have only been to Fenway once in my life so I am very excited I will be taking lots of pictures tomorrow.”
Wareham has now outscored their opponents 21-1 in their last 2 games and will try to carry that over to Friday night on the road against the Chatham Anglers at 7 p.m.
