The Gatemen are set to face off against the Orleans Firebirds Saturday night at Spillane Field. Each team claimed a win in the series on their home fields, and Wareham is looking for another one tonight.
In their last meeting, the Gatemen were walked off by the Firebirds in the bottom of the ninth, and hope to get their revenge in Saturday night’s matchup.
Orleans sits in the middle of the pack in the East Division with a 13-13-0 record and a three-game win streak. Wareham still holds last place in the West after dropping their last five games, including a close 4-1 loss to the Harwich Mariners on Friday night.
Jonathan Bautista makes his return to the bump for Wareham after a stint in the New England Collegiate Baseball League. The righty made two starts for the Gatemen in June and claimed a 6.23 ERA after 8.2 innings of work on his way to a 1-1 record, including the win over the Firebirds. With the Valley Blue Sox of the NECBL, Bautista also held a 1-1 record with a 3.85 ERA through 9.1 innings with nine Ks to his name.
