Gatemen take on Anglers in final matchup of series

The Gatemen travel to Veterans Field Tuesday afternoon to resume their July 10 matchup against the Chatham Anglers. The Anglers took the win at Spillane Field Monday night in a dramatic comeback with a final score of 6-3 in the tenth.

Wareham looks to redeem themselves and take the final win of the series on the road as they resume play after the game was postponed due to fog. The Gatemen will start today off with two runners on second and third with no outs. In the original matchup, Nick McLain (Arizona State) reached on a single and Garen Caulfield (Arizona) moved him to third on a bloop double that disappeared out of sight in the fog.

Both teams still sit in last place in their respective divisions going into the matchup. This game is a bit different for both teams, as it’s the first day game for any team in the CCBL this season with a 1 p.m. start time.

The Gatemen are looking for their first road win since Opening Day on July 10 against the Falmouth Commodores. Yoel Tejeda (Florida State transfer) will toe the rubber for the Gatemen for the resumed play. Tejeda holds a 5.78 ERA through 9.1 innings of work. The Florida native has appeared in five games with two starts for Wareham, collecting seven strikeouts along the way. The righty looks to get into a groove to help the Gatemen in their quest for road win number two.

Fans can tune in to the Gatemen Gamecast on YouTube for pregame coverage beginning at 12:45 before the 1 p.m. first pitch.
