Wareham is back in action at home…technically. Friday night, the Gatemen will play host to the Falmouth Commodores but the game will take place at Commodore Hendy Field at Massachusetts Maritime Academy. The turf matchup will be the fifth game between the two teams this season.

The Commodores hold the series lead over the Gatemen, with three wins and one loss. In the four games, Falmouth has put up over 40 runs on Wareham.

The Gatemen are coming off a tough 7-3 loss to manager Ryan Smyth’s former team, the Brewster Whitecaps. The matchup featured yet another strong pitching performance from a Gatemen starter, but the team was not able to reap the benefits.

Riley Eikhoff looks to continue the streak of strong starting pitching to put a stop to the hot Commodore bats. The righty out of Coastal Carolina has thrown 16 innings for the Gatemen this season and holds a 5.06 ERA. In his four outings, Eikhoff has struck out 13 batters compared to just four walks. He was also the first Gatemen pitcher to work over five innings in a single game in 2023, pitching six against the Harwich Mariners on July 14.
