Gatemen host round 1 of back-to-back matchup against Anglers

The Wareham Gatemen are back at Spillane Field after an unexpected off day. They were set to face the Bourne Braves, but the matchup was postponed due to the inclement weather.

They will now take on the Chatham Anglers in back-to-back matchups, the first being Monday night at home. The second is the resumed game at Veterans Field from July 10 that was suspended due to fog.

The series is tied at 1-1, with both teams sitting in last place in their divisions.

Manager Ryan Smyth gives the nod to Aidan Major (West Virginia) for the start on the bump. Tonight will mark Major’s team-leading fourth start for the Gatemen. The Pennsylvania native owns a 7.71 ERA and will aim to decrease that number in this outing. Through 11.2 innings of work, Major has allowed 14 hits but just five walks while striking out 12 batters.
