It’s time for the annual Polar Park game on Monday night. The Gatemen will face the Bourne Braves in Worcester for the second consecutive season at the Red Sox minor league park.

The teams last met one week ago on July 24 for a double header at Doran Park. After almost being no-hit and losing the first game 7-1, the Gatemen came back in full swing and grabbed their second road win and first shutout of the season in a 7-0 victory.

Wareham is coming off a big 5-4 win over the Cotuit Kettleers on Sunday night. The Gatemen will look to take this momentum into their Monday night matchup against the Braves. Wareham was attempting to play catch-up in the playoff race until they were officially eliminated with a loss to Falmouth on Saturday night as Bourne punched their own ticket to the postseason.

Although eliminated from the playoffs, Wareham holds the series lead 3-2 and hopes to get the win tonight in Worcester to keep the good energy flowing for the Gatemen through the end of the season.

Will Koger (Louisville) will make his final start of the season on the mound Monday night. The Cardinal was shaken up in his last outing against the Orleans Firebirds, tossing 3.2 innings in the 10-6 loss. Koger gave up seven earned runs, including three homers, before he was bounced by the Firebirds. He has appeared in 10 games with two starts in 2023 along with being named a 2023 Cape League All-Star.
