Tuesday night marks the final road trip for the Wareham Gatemen 2023 season. After falling 6-3 to the Bourne Braves at the Cape Cod Classic at Polar Park, the Gatemen travel to McKeon Park to face the Hyannis Harbor Hawks. Wareham sits at 15-25-2 going into the final two games and looks to end the season on a high note.

Hyannis was the team to beat in the month of July as the calendar now flips to August. The Harbor Hawks went 14-8-1 in July compared to the Gatemen’s 6-17-0 record. Hyannis remains the only team that Wareham has yet to beat and the Gatemen are looking to come out on top in their final matchup.

The last time these two teams met was just last Friday July 28, as the Gatemen fell 9-8 due to a walk-off in the bottom of the ninth. Grant Hussey (West Virginia) recorded his second grand slam of the season, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Harbor Hawks.

Chase Chatman (St. Thomas) made his first start with the Gatemen on July 26 against Harwich, and will make his second and final start Tuesday night. The southpaw pitched 4.1 innings of work against the Mariners and allowed three runs off of five hits. Chatman received a no decision, as Wareham went on to win the game 5-4. He has appeared in four games for the Gatemen, primarily in relief. Chatman has thrown nine innings and owns a 6.00 ERA on the season.

Head over to the Gatemen Gamecast on YouTube for all the action at McKeon Park for the final radio show of the 2023 campaign. Pregame coverage will begin at 5:45 before the 6 o’clock first pitch.
