Wareham Hands the Ball to Sokol in Search of Win

The Wareham Gatemen travel to Red Wilson Field to take on the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox on Friday, July 22nd. The Gatemen sit dead last in the West division standings with an 11-18-6 record.

Wareham will start Jack Sokol (Pittsburg) for the third time this season in a game that they need a win. Sokol comes in with a 5.40 ERA across 6.2 innings pitched. He has just six strikeouts while allowing four walks and eight hits.

The Red Sox are expected to start right-handed pitcher Grant Taylor (Washington St.) for the sixth time this summer. Taylor has been dominant in his 21.1 innings of work as he sports a 2.95 ERA. His 31 strikeouts are very impressive, and he has not allowed more than two earned runs in any of his starts this season.

The gatemen are in desperation mode as they are 1-6-3 in their last ten. They are five points out of a playoff spot and need a win tonight to have hope at a postseason appearance. For complete game notes click here
