Safe to say the Wareham offense is back on track after 10-1 win over Hyannis

WAREHAM- The Wareham Gatemen offense exploded with a total of 12 hits and 10 runs against the Hyannis Harbor Hawks in 10-1 victory.
Jacob Teter (Florida Southern) led off the 2ndinning with a single making it 4 straight games with a hit for him. Mike Antico (St. Johns) was hit by a pitch and Benjamin Sems (Kansas) advanced the runners to 2ndand 3rdon a sacrifice bunt.
 Matt McLain (UCLA) got his first hit of the summer in a key spot sending home a run on a single up the middle making it 1-0. Matthew Rudick (San Diego State) made it 2-0 on a sacrifice bunt.
“I think the count was 2-1, he threw me a slider and I hit it up the middle not trying to do too much” McLain said. “I just wanted to do my best to get our team a run on the board.”
William Fleming (Wake Forest) took over for the Gatemen in the 3rdinning. Brendan Cellucci (Tulane) pitched 2 scoreless inning only allowing 1 hit. Anthony Cervideo (Missisipi) cut the lead to 2-1 in the 3rdinning on an RBI single cut up the middle.
Teter and Antico opened the 4thinning with back-to-back singles. Sems advanced the runners on a sacrifice bunt just like in the 2ndinning. McLain one upped himself and instad of hitting an RBI single hit 3-run home run over the left field fence making it 5-1.
“That felt good I didn’t know if the ball was out or not but I hit the changeup just right and it felt nice off the bat” McLain said. “The Cape League has been a lot of fun, the wood bat has been an adjustment but the guys have been really welcoming and we have a great team here.”
Garret Irvin (Arizona) relieved Fleming in the 6thinning. Fleming’s final line was 3 innings, 3 hits, 3 strikeouts and 1 run.
In the 6thinning McLain advanced all the way to 3rdfrom 1stbase after getting on with an error and advancing with another. Braiden Ward (Washington) registered his 7thRBI of the season sending home a run on an infield single.
Dallas Beaver (UCF) collected his first RBI of the summer on a single in the 8thinning making the score 7-1. Adrian Del Castillo (Miami) made it 8-1 on an RBI double. Teter added insult to injury making it 10-1 on a 2 RBI single.
Wareham closed out the game 10-1. The Gatemen improved to (6-5-1) on the season and the Harbor Hawks fell to (1-9-1).
“I think we did a good job of playing within ourselves today and didn’t try to do too much” McLain said.
Garret Irvin was awarded the win for throwing 3 no-hit innings and Holt Jones earned the loss allowing 4 runs on 4 hits in 3 innings of work. Wareham is back in action tomorrow night hosting the Cotuit Kettleers at 6:45 p.m.
