On Opening Day, the Gatemen pulled out a 2-1 win over the Hyannis Harbor Hawks. In 4 innings, Wareham’s starting pitcher Michael Sansone gave up just 2 hits and collected 6 strikeouts. For the complete game notes, << click here>>.
Tonight, the Gatemen will take on the Bourne Braves, who also pulled out a win on Opening Day over the reigning Cape Cod Baseball League Champions, the Brewster White Caps, at home. First pitch will be at 6:00pm at Spillane Field.
Right-hander Jonathan Brand will get the start for Wareham today against Bourne. This will be Brand’s second year with the Gatemen. In 2021, the Georgia native pitched 7 innings for Wareham, giving up just one hit with 8 strikeouts.
Hunter Llyod will make his Cape League debut for the Braves this evening. From East Tennessee State University, Lloyd drew a lot of attention this past season when he threw an immaculate inning against George Washington University.
