Gatemen Travel to Hyannis to Take on Red Hot Harbor Hawks

The Wareham Gatemen will be traveling to McKeon Park on Thursday, July 7th to take on the Hyannis Harbor Hawks. The Gatemen have been as average as it gets, going 4-4-2 in the last ten games played. Hyannis has been excellent lately going 6-1-3 in their last ten.

Wareham will hand the ball to Jason Woodward (Florida Gulf Coast) in an attempt to slow down Hyannis. This will be Woodward’s fourth start of the season as he sits at a 5.72 ERA across 11 frames. The righty has just seven strikeouts this summer compared to his 12 hits allowed.

The Harbor Hawks are expected to start Austin Strickland (Kentucky). Strickland will be making his fifth Cape Cod Baseball League appearance this season with just one other start to his name. In nine innings pitched, Strickland sits at a 4.00 ERA with nine strikeouts.

The Gatemen need to get the bats going as they look to hold a playoff spot. The team is batting .224 with ten home runs. Wareham has struck out 196 times compared to their 78 walks. The team may need to start incorporating more of a small ball style to push runs across the plate.

Manager Harvey Shapiro will look to lead his ball club to a 9-11-3 record while the Harbor Hawks look to improve to 12-6-5. For complete game notes click here
