Gatemen Offense Looks to Get Going in Hyannis

The Wareham Gatemen travel to McKeon Park tonight to take on the Hyannis Harbor Hawks with first pitch at 6:00pm. The teams come into the contest each holding a 1-1-1 record and look to pick up their second win of the season.

Wareham is expected to start Jacob Cravey (Samford) while Hyannis is expected to go with Jackson Baumeister (Florida State).

Cravey enters the contest coming off a solid sophomore season at Samford. He sported a 4.03 ERA while leading the team in innings pitched with 82.2 The righty will look to build on what has been a great start to the season for the Gatemen pitching staff.

Baumeister appeared in 19 games with the Seminoles in 2022 and had a 5.60 ERA. He struck out 41 batters over the course of 27.1 innings.

The Harbor Hawks pitching staff has been equally as impressive giving up just one earned run in 26 innings of game action. Their bullpen has yet to allow an earned run in three Cape League games.

The Gatemen shook up the lineup in Tuesday’s loss to Orleans. Jack Housinger (Xavier) slid up to the leadoff spot and Caden Rose (Alabama) dropped to the ninth in the order. It will be interesting to see if manager Harvey Shapiro rolls the same lineup out again or if he makes adjustments to try and get the Wareham bats going. The team is batting just .128 with four RBIs across three games.

Wareham will look to pick up their first road win of the season while Hyannis is also trying to get back into the win column after a 1-1 tie on Tuesday. For complete game notes click here.
