Gatemen Narrowly Avoid Being No-Hit in Yarmouth

The Gatemen’s hardships continued tonight as they traveled to Yarmouth to take on the Red Sox.

Yarmouth-Dennis made quick work of Wareham, putting up seven runs on five hits in the second inning, including a grand slam from Braden Montgomery (Stanford) to take a commanding lead.

In the 3rd and 4th innings, the Red Sox would add two more to their lead on a solo shot and an RBI double by Hayden Schott (Columbia).

The Gatemen offense was quiet the whole night. After being no-hit for 5.2 innings, Deric Fabian (Florida) blasted a solo shot right below Y-D’s scoreboard to bring in the Gatemen’s first run of the night. The Red Sox would collect 11 hits before the Gatemen had a single one.

Two more runs were brought home in the 7th, giving the Red Sox an 11-1 lead. That’d be the final score for the night, and the Gatemen went home with another loss, bringing their season to 11-19-6.

The 2022 CCBL All Star Game will take place tomorrow at Wareham’s very own Spillane Field. Gates open at 2:00pm and first pitch will be at 6:05pm.
