Gatemen Host Commodores in Divisional Battle

The Falmouth Commodores will visit Spillane Field tonight to take on the Wareham Gatemen. The two squads both enter the game at 5-8-1 and are tied for last place in the division.

Wareham will start Matt Jachec (Indiana St.) in a matchup that could have playoff implications. Jachec comes into his third start of the season with a 6.42 ERA. He has thrown seven innings thus far and has struck out eight batters.

Grayson Hitt (Alabama) is expected to start for the Commodores. Hitt has started two games as well and has pitched to a tune of a 3.52 ERA across 7.2 innings pitched. He has struck out nine batters while walking six.

The Gatemen’s offensive statistics look better after their doubleheader against Harwich. Ryan Campos (Arizona St.) belted Wareham’s third home run of the season. The team average has jumped up to .226 batting average and a .320 on base percentage.

Four teams will make the playoffs in the West division and this game could have major implications on that. With a win, Wareham can jump into that fourth playoff slot. Despite a lot of games remaining in the season, all divisional are extremely important for both of these teams. For complete game notes click here
