Braiden Ward and Gatemen offense hit at will in victory over the Orleans Firebirds

WAREHAM- Braiden Ward went 6-6 one triple shy of the cycle and the Gatemen racked up 19 hits in 15-4 win over the Orleans Firebirds
Braiden ward (Washington) led off the ballgame for the Gatemen with a double. Ward sat out last game after not getting a hit two games ago so he looked hungry out there tonight. Matt McLain (UCLA) was hit by a pitch and Jacob Teter (Florida Southern) loaded the bases on a double.
Adrian Del Castillo (Miami) has reached base in 13 out of 14 games for the Gatemen and he showed why hitting a grand slam to make it 4-0 Gatemen. Teter opened up the flood gates in the 2nd inning sending home 2 runs on an RBI single making the score 4-0. Adrian Del Castillo added an RBI single to his night making the score 7-0.
Dallas Beaver (South Carolina) hit a 2 RBI double into deep left making the score 9-0. Ian Bedell struck out 5 batters out of the first 9 players he faced as he breezed his way through the first 3 innings only allowing 1 hit.
Dawson McCarville (Grand Canyon) took over for the Firebirds in the 3rdinning. Owen Sharts (Nevada) came into the ballgame with an ERA of 0.89 but did not have his stuff tonight allowing 9 runs on 8 hits in only 2 innings of action.
In the 3rd inning Ward followed up his double with a 2-run moonshot over the right field fence making the score 11-0. Matt McLain (UCLA) broke out of his 4 game hitless streak hitting a double.

Trent Palmer (Jacksonville) took over for the Gatemen in the 5thinning. Palmer struggled with his control allowing 2 runs and 4 hits walking 2 batters and striking out 2 in 2 innings. Bedell’s final line was 5 innings of work allowing 2 runs on 5 hits striking out 7 batters.
Beaver launched a home run so far in the 6thinning that it bounced off the bleachers. Tora Otsuka (San Diego) hit an RBI single in the 6thinning making the score 14-4. Then for the icing on the cake McLain sent home Otsuka on an RBI double making the score 15-4.
Jeremy Williams (Nova Southeastern) made his Gatemen debut and looked good throwing 2 hitless innings not walking a single batter. Ian Bedell earned the win improving to 2-0 on the season while Owen Sharts earned the loss and is now 1-1 this season.
Ward was the star of the game going 6-6 with 2 RBI. McLain was 3-4 with 1 RBI, Del Castillo was 2-5 with 5 RBI, and Beaver was 3-4 with 3 RBI.
“The off-day yesterday really helped us. We all met up at the beach and had some fun and we got a lot closer as a team” Ward said. “We are always picking each other up and we talk a good amount of smack with each other so we are having fun out there.”
The Gatemen are now 11-8-1 on the season and the Orleans Firebirds are 11-7-2. The Gatemen are back in action for a double header in Harwich against the Mariners. The first game is scheduled for 3:00 and the second game will take place after.
