The Western Division won the Cape Cod Baeball League All-Star game at Fenway Park 5-0 and Wareham Gatemen Zach Wilson (Arizona State) was the West MVP.
The entire Gatemen All-Star coningent contributed to the West victory; all turning in impressive performances in all facets of the game. Wareham starters Tyler Bream (Liberty) and Wilson played the entire game for Head Coach Harvey Shapiro (Bourne Braves); Bream making several impressive plays at third base and scoring the first run of the game on a passed ball. He later picked up a single and finished 1 for 3 on the day.
The first Wareham pitcher to make an appearance was Max Perlman (Harvard). Perlman pitched the 3rd inning, giving up one hit and picking up a strikeout. Gatemen LHP Jed Bradley (Georgia Tech) needed only 11 pitchers to sit down the East squad in order in his one perfect inning of work in the 5th inning.
Tony Caldwell (Auburn) entered the game in the 6th inning and made an immediate impact, gunning down Clint Moore (Army) at 2nd base on an attempted steal. The very next inning, he tripled into the right field corner and then scored a run on a passed ball. That set the stage for Zach Wilson, who doubled off the Green Monster at Fenway; highlighting a 3 run 7th inning that lifted the West to an eventual 5-0 win. Wilson finished 1 for 5 with a double, an rbi and a run scored.
Jake Davies (Georgia Tech) participated the homerun derby prior to the game eventually won by Cotuit’s Paul Hoilman (E. Tenn State).
