Weinstein announces probable postseason lineup

Prior to Wareham’s final regular season home game against Bourne, head coach Jerry Weinstein announced the tentative lineup that he plans to put out for the Gatemen’s first round matchup versus the Braves that begins Friday.

While Weinstein noted that nothing is official, he intends to have Colton Shaver be the everyday third baseman in the postseason while playing Nico Giarratano at shortstop, Cole Freeman at second base, and having Gavin Sheets round out the infield defense at first base.

In the outfield, meanwhile, Robbie Metz, Joey Bartosic, and newly acquired Jonathan Pryor are expected to go left to right.

Adrian Tovalin will man the designated hitter spot in the lineup.

Weinstein said he plans on having Joey Bart catch every postseason game, but acknowledged that Bart may be unable to catch seven-nine straight games if Wareham advances to the Cape Cod Baseball League championship. If that is the case, both Dominic Miroglio and Colton Shaver are available to make spot starts at catcher.

Alex Destino, Ezequiel Sanchez, and Preston Grand Pre will all be available off the bench as defensive replacements, pinch runners, and/or pinch hitters.
