Preview: Wareham, Chatham square off as Gatemen look to build off recent offensive outbursts

Wareham (8-6-1) vs. Chatham (8-7)

Probable Starting Pitchers: WAREHAM – Jeff Bain (0-1, 6.75 ERA), RHP; CHATHAM – Andrew Karp (0-0, — ERA), RHP

Preview: The Gatemen offense seems to have hit its stride, as over the last two games Wareham has pounded out a combined 26 hits. Wareham’s offensive outburst has helped them to two straight wins over Yarmouth-Dennis and Brewster after they had dropped three of four. They will look to keep up with their winning ways when they take a trip to Chatham on Tuesday evening to take on the Anglers. The two teams have met once so far this Cape Cod Baseball League season – a 7-1 win for Chatham at Spillane Field. Jeff Bain gets the start for Wareham making his fourth appearance of the season. The right-hander out of Cal is 0-1 on the year, while pitching to the tune of a 6.75 ERA over eight innings.

Chatham, meanwhile, plans on throwing Andrew Karp out of Florida State. Karp, a rising redshirt sophomore, made just nine appearances for the Seminoles in 2016. Over those nine appearances Karp went 1-1 with a 6.91 ERA, letting up 19 hits in 14.1 innings. His pitching repertoire includes a fastball that sits between 90-92 miles per hour but can get up towards 94 as well as a curveball. Tuesday night will mark his first outing for the Anglers in 2016
