Preview: Southpaws square off as Gatemen look to get back in win column

HYANNIS (5-8) vs. Wareham (6-6-1)

Probable Starting Pitchers: HYANNIS – Charlie Barnes (1-1, 5.00 ERA), LHP; WAREHAM – Hogan Harris (0-0, — ERA), LHP

Preview: For the first time this season the Gatemen have hit a bit of a skid, as they have gone winless in their last four games. They will look to right the ship on Saturday evening when they hand the ball over to Hogan Harris for his first start of this Cape Cod Baseball League season. Harris, out of Louisiana Lafayette, is a hard throwing left hander who will be entering his sophomore season for the Ragin’ Cajuns. This past spring he threw just 27.2 innings, going 2-0 with a 3.90 ERA. He posses a fastball that hovers around 92-93 miles per hour as well as a two-seam fastball, a curveball, a slider, and a change-up.

Hyannis, meanwhile, is looking to defeat the Gatemen for the third time in just a week on Saturday. The Harbor Hawks bested Wareham 5-4 last Saturday before knocking them off 3-1 on Wednesday. Getting the start for Hyannis will be Charlie Barnes, a left-hander out of Clemson University. Barnes has made two starts for Hyannis so far this Cape Cod Baseball League season, going 1-1 with a 5.00 ERA. After struggling against Orleans back on June 13th (4 IP, 4 ER, 8 H), he found much better success against Cotuit last Sunday, going five innings while surrendering just one earned run and striking out five. Barnes has a fastball around 90s fastball, a change-up to get out lefties and a curveball to retire righties.

News & Notes: Alex Destino (.500) and Gavin Sheets (.300) are currently the only two Gatemen hitting at least .300

. This only the second left-handed starter that the Gatemen have faced so far this season
