Preview: Rackoski gets ball for Gatemen, plus News & Notes

Wareham (5-2) vs. Hyannis (0-7)

Probable Starting Pitchers: WAREHAM – Sean Rackoski (0-0, ERA), RHP; HYANNIS – Alex Eubanks (0-0, 5.40 ERA), RHP

Preview: The Gatemen will be looking to extend their winning streak to three this afternoon when they head to Hyannis to take on the Harbor Hawks and are asking Sean Rackoski to lead the way. Rackoski, out of Kansas, missed the entire 2016 season for the Jayhawks due to a broken thumb he suffered during an intra-squad scrimmage in February. It was a tough blow for the Jayhawks, as Rackoski was counted to be on a front of the line rotation starter. In 2015, Rackoski went 2-4 with a 6.60 ERA. The six-foot seven-inch right-hander features a low 90s fastball as well as a slider.

Hyannis meanwhile lost a 1-0 game last night to Harwich that went 11 innings. In an effort to bounce back, the Harbor Hawks will give the ball to Alex Eubanks out of Clemson. Eubanks has one appearance so far this Cape Cod Baseball League season, going five innings back on June 12th against Bourne. Over those five innings Eubanks gave up four earned runs on seven hits, did not walk a batter and struck out three. Eubanks had a solid spring season for the Tigers, going 6-5 with a 4.09 ERA while striking out 70 in 80.1 innings. The rising junior shows off a fastball that hovers around 90 miles per hour, a hard slider, and a mid 70s change-up.

News and Notes: With his double in the bottom of the seventh inning yesterday, Robbie Metz boosted his team-leading batting average to .450 (9-for-20)

. Joey Bartosic’s steal in the last half of the fifth inning last night put him sole possession for the team lead in steals with five

. Colton Shaver is currently tied for the league lead in RBIs with nine

Game Time: 2:00pm, McKeon Park, Hyannis
