Wareham (3-1) vs. Orleans (2-2)
Probable Starting Pitchers: WAREHAM – Brett Conine (0-0, ERA –), RHP; ORLEANS – Cory Abbott (0-0, ERA –), RHP
Preview: So far this season the Gatemen staff has been nothing short of rock solid, posting a 1.54 ERA through the first four games of the season. On Wednesday night Brett Conine out of Cal-State Fullerton gets the ball for Wareham as they look to improve to 4-1 on the young season. Conine, a rising sophomore, went 3-3 over 15 appearances for the Titans. In 30 innings he struck out 24 while pitching to the tune of a 5.10 ERA. The right-hander possesses a low-90s fastball as well as an off-speed repertoire that contains a sweeping curveball and a changeup.
On the other side the Firebirds will be looking to bounce back from a tough 5-2 loss to Harwich on Tuesday night. Cory Abbot, who posted a 5-5 record with a 4.24 ERA for Loyola Marymount in 2014, will get the start for Orleans. Abbot is a right-hander who features a fastball that tops out around 91 miles an hour to go along with a breaking ball that lives around 80 miles per hour and a change-up in the mid 70s.
