Preview: Gatemen look to stop two game slide against Bourne

Wareham (6-5) vs. Bourne (7-4)

Probable Starting Pitchers: WAREHAM – Jake Walters (1-0, 1.28 ERA), RHP; BOURNE – Christian Taugner (1-0, 2.25 ERA), RHP

Preview: For the first time this season, the Gatemen find themselves in the midst of a two game losing streak as they fell to Hyannis last night, 3-1. Wareham will look to get things back on the right track when they head to Bourne to take on the Braves who currently lead the western division by a game (over Wareham). Jake Walters – out of Alabama – makes his third start of the year for Wareham and so far has been quite impressive. Over the course of seven innings, Walters has given up just one earned run on three hits while walking just a single batter.

The Braves, on the other hand, snapped a three game losing streak last night with a 7-2 win over Falmouth and send Christian Taugner to the mound in an attempt to come away with their second consecutive victory. Taugner, a rising senior at Brown, has only four innings of work on the young season. In those four innings, Taugner has surrendered a lone run on three hits while walking no one and striking out four. Over nine starts for Brown during the spring, Taugner went 5-3 with a 2.79 ERA. He features a fastball that hovers around 90-miles per hour as well as a curveball and a change-up.

News & Notes: Alex Destino (South Carolina) currently leads the Gatemen in batting average at .429, while Jonathan Engelmann (Michigan) sits second at .313

. With his two strikeouts yesterday, Zachary Pop (Kentucky) is tied for the team lead in strikeouts now with nine

. Brown starting pitcher Christian Taugner missed nearly 18 months after his freshman season due to a UCL tear

Game Time: 6:00pm, Doran Park, Bourne
