Bourne (13-14-1) vs. Wareham (12-13-3)
Probable Starting Pitchers: BOURNE – AJ Moore (0-4, 3.11 ERA), RHP; WAREHAM – Ethan Small (1-0, 1.31 ERA), LHP
Preview: Wareham comes off their second off day this week below .500 for the season for the first time this year. The Gatemen are now 0-5-2 in their last seven games, not coming away with a win since Monday, July 4. On Friday, however, the Gatemen will face off against Bourne team that has faced similar struggles as of late. The Braves are 3-7 in their last 10 games. After leading Hyannis 4-3 in the top of the ninth inning on Wednesday, Bourne saw the Harbor Hawks score to runs with two outs to steal a 5-4 win. Ethan Small will look to keep the Braves in their midseason funk when he gets the start for Wareham on Friday. Small, a left-hander out of Mississippi State has shined as of late, not surrendering an earned run over his last 13 innings of work. On the year, Small is 1-0 with a 1.31 ERA, striking out 9 in 13.2 innings, walking five, and letting up 12 hits.
A.J. Moore gets the ball for Bourne looking to turn his team’s fortunes around. While Moore is 0-4, that record can be quite deceiving. Moore has yet to give up more than three earned runs in any outing thus far, and back on July 8 scattered just five hits over 6.1 innings of one run ball against Falmouth. A rising junior out of Kennesaw State, Moore throws a fastball that can get up into the mid 90s, a sharp curveball, and a change-up.
