Wareham (12-12-3) vs. Falmouth (16-11)
Probable Starting Pitchers: WAREHAM – Dalton Horton (0-0, 4.50 ERA), LHP; FALMOUTH – Tyler Holton (0-1, 3.85 ERA), LHP
Preview: For the first time this year, the Gatemen are winless in six straight games, as a 6-1 loss to Hyannis last night pushed Wareham to 0-4-2 since July 4th. Wareham will look to avoid falling under .500 when they travel to Falmouth on Wednesday evening. The Commodores had their six game winning streak snapped last night, falling to Orleans to 2-1 on a walk-off home run. Still, Falmouth finds themselves in first place in the West Division. Due to their recent skid, Wareham is now in third place in the West, a far cry from just last Monday, when a win over Bourne put them atop the division. Dalton Horton gets the start for the Gatemen on Wednesday, his first for Wareham this summer. His only appearance came back on July 6 versus Chatham where he went four innings, gave up two earned runs, struck out four, and walked two.
Tyler Holton will oppose the Gatemen, making his third outing for Falmouth. In each of his previous two appearances, Holton has yet to go at least three full innings, with his most recent one coming back on July 5 against Orleans. Over 4.2 combined innings of work, Horton is 0-1 with a 3.85 ERA, letting up six hits, walking four, and striking out seven. A rising junior out of Florida State, Holton had a big-time year for the Seminoles this past spring. In 18 appearances, the left-hander went 3-4 with a 2.79 ERA, striking out 84 in 67.2 innings. He features a fastball in the low-to-mid 90s, a circle change-up and a curveball.
News & Notes: The Gatemen have not scored more than three runs in a game since their 11 inning affair against Chatham on July 6
. Wareham comes into the game third in the league in batting average (.253) but ninth in on-base percentage (.309)
. Falmouth is first in the West Division in ERA (2.52)
