Preview: Gatemen kick-off holiday weekend with trip to Cotuit

Wareham (9-7-1) vs. Cotuit (3-14)

Probable Starting Pitchers: WAREHAM – Jake Walters (1-0, 2.91 ERA), RHP; COTUIT – Keith Rogalla (0-2, 4.15 ERA), RHP

Preview: The Gatemen had their three game winning streak snapped at the hands of Falmouth on Wednesday, and after an off day on Thursday, they will look to rebound when they head to Cotuit on Friday evening. By and large, the Kettleers have struggled all season long, supporting the league’s worst record at 3-14. Still, this is a Cotuit team that has played better of late, as they have won two of their last four games and scored at least four runs in three of those contests. Jake Walters out of Alabama gets the start for Warheam trying to build upon what has already been a solid Cape Cod Baseball League season. Walters, over four appearances, is 1-0 with a 2.91 ERA, letting up just 10 hits 12.1 innings.

Cotuit is expected to counter with Keith Rogalla, a rising junior at Creighton University. This will be Rogalla’s fourth outing of the season, and so far the right-hander has ran into some tough luck. In two of his three outings, Rogalla has surrendered one earned run while at the same time seeing his team’s defense help produce nine combined unearned runs. Through 13 innings of work, Rogalla is 0-2 with a 4.15 ERA, giving up 14 hits in 13 innings and striking out 10 over that span.

News & Notes: Wareham LHP Gunner Leger saw his scoreless innings streak increase to eight on Wednesday when he tossed two more innings of shutout baseball

. Ryan Noda (Brewster) has caught up to Colton Shaver in RBIs, and is now tied with Shaver atop the league leaderboards in that category with 15
