Orleans (5-3) vs. Wareham (5-3)
Probable Starting Pitchers: ORLEANS – Jason Morgan (1-0, 1.80 ERA), RHP; WAREHAM – Anthony Herron (1-0, 0.00 ERA), RHP
Preview: For the second time in three games, the Gatemen fell victim of an eighth inning comeback, as Hyannis scored five in the bottom of the eighth yesterday to snap Wareham’s two game winning streak. On Sunday, they will look to cool down a Firebirds team that has won three of its last four and call on Anthony Herron to get the job done. Herron has one start so far this Cape Cod Baseball League season, tossing four shutout innings against Brewster back on June 14th. Herron showed off why his strikeout totals were so high this past spring, fanning three batters using his devastating splitter.
The Firebirds will counter with right-hander Jason Morgan out of the University of North Carolina (Chapel Hill). Morgan, who stands at six-feet six-inches, has one appearance so far in 2016 that came back on June the 13th against Hyannis. In that outing Morgan went five innings, gave up just one earned run on two hits, and struck out five. During the spring season Morgan made 12 appearances for the Tar Heels, going 0-0 with a 3.91 ERA. The rising junior has a low-to-mid 90s four-seam fastball to go along with a curveball.
