The five game winning streak by the Wareham Gatemen was snapped by the Orleans Cardinals tonight 7-4. This was a back and forth struggle between the Cardinals and Gatemen through 7 innings. Wareham took a 2-0 lead in the first inning on a Kipp Shutz (Indiana) rbi single and on a throwing error by Orleans.

Starter Max Perlman (Harvard) would hold the Cardinals to no runs until the fourth when they scored 2 runs on 3 hits to tie the game. Wareham responded right away in the 5th on an rbi single by Ryan Pineda (Cal-State Northridge). Orleans, however, would score 2 in the 8th and 3 in the 9th for the 7-4 victory.

Shutz had 2 of the Wareham’s 5 hits on the night. Perlman went 6 innings, allowed 2 earned runs and struck out 7 batters. May Way (Washington State) took the loss in relief.
