WAREHAM, MA: University of Kentucky right-handed pitcher Kyle Cody was named Coca Cola’s Cape Cod Baseball League Pitcher of the Week for his dominating performance on the mound in his last start for the Wareham Gatemen vs. the Falmouth Commodores.
In that start, Cody pitched 7 innings, struck out 6, walked just 1, allowed only 3 hits and did NOT allow a run in one of the most impressive pitching performances in the league this season. Returning after a short 2 game stint in Wareham last summer, Cody is part of the regular rotation for the Gatemen this summer; having already made 3 starts and is carrying a 3.17 ERA.
Cody is from Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin and pitched mostly out of the bullpen for Kentucky this past season; making 18 appearance and 6 starts. He finished 4-0 to go along with a 2.84 ERA.
The last Gatemen to be named Coca Cola’s Cape Cod Baseball Pitcher of the Week was Nicholas Rumbelow from LSU; who also took the honor during week #3 in July of 2012.
