Josh Turley Named CCBL Pitcher of the Week

Gatemen LHP Josh Turley (Baylor) has been named the CCBL’s Pitcher of the Week; the 2nd Wareham pitcher this season to be honored with the award  Turley has emerged as a top flight pitcher in the Gatemen rotation and is 3-1 with a 2.03 era on the season.  His 3 wins are tied for 2nd in the CCBL.

 

Josh captured the award this week for his two terrific starts during the week.  Combined, he allowed just 3 hits and 1 run in 12 innings of work while striking out 13 batters.  He has a total of 22 strikeouts in 26.2 innings of work on the season and has allowed just 16 hits and only 6 runs on the season.  Josh has walked just 5 batters.

 

Josh pitches for Baylor University where he finished 4-5 with a 3.39 era this past season.  He was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 2009 MLB Draft.Luke is the son of Toronto Blue Jays Manager John Farrell.

 

Josh was honored along with Cotuit OF Victor Roache (Georgia Southern) who was named the CCBL PLayer of the Week.  Ironically, when Luke Farrell (Northwestern) – the other Gatemen pitcher to win the award this season – Roache was also the Player of the Week.  The Gatemen had two pitchers named Pitcher of the Week in 2010; Max Perlman (Harvard) and current Wareham RHP Joseph Flynn (Franklin Pierce)
