07/06/08 – Gatemen Win 3rd Straight – Defeat YD 4-3
The Wareham Gatemen won for the third straight day and swept their games over the July 4th weekend; this time over the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox 4-3. Robby Broach (Tulane) was awarded with the win after a solid starting pitching performance and then handing the game over to a pair of Yellow Jackets. Zach Brewster pitched his way into and out of a jam in the 8th inning; allowing one run be preserving the lead. Georgia Tech teammate Chris Hicks allowed a hit in the 9th inning but closed the door on the Red Sox for his second save in as many days.

The Wareham offense was lead by Aaron Baker (Oklahoma), who hit a solo homerun to give the Gatemen their first run and then a go-ahead and game winning, 2 rbi double in the 8th inning to give Wareham a 4-2 lead. Kipp Shutz (Indiana) also had a solo homer to tie the game at two in the 7th inning.

The Gatemen have now won 3 in a row and move to 7-11-1 on the season. Wareham will send left-handed pitcher Dallas Keuchel (Arkansas) to the mound tomorrow night as the Gatemen welcome the Brewster Whitecaps to Spillane Field for a 7:00pm first pitch.
