Gatemen Still Can’t Figure Out Bourne

WAREHAM, MA. The Wareham Gatmen lost to the Bourne Braves 4-0 at Spillane Field in the last game before today’s CCBL Under Armour All-Star Game at Fenway Park.  The Gatemen are now 0-4 on the season vs. division rival Bourne are are locked in a 3 way tie atop the Western Divison with Bourne and Cotuit.

 

Bourne starting pitcher Alex Wimmers (Ohio State) pitched 6 innings, allowed only 4 hits and struck out 10 batters; leading the Braves shutout of Wareham.  The Braves got the only run they would need in the 3rd inning on a Pierre Lepage (UCONN) sacrifice fly off of Gatemen starter Blake Monar (Indiana).  In the 5th, Bourne would get their most exciting run of the game when Zack Macphee (Arizona State) stole home to give the Braves a 2-0 lead.  Bourne added 2 more runs in the 7th to close out the scoring as the Braves won easily 4-0.

 

The Gatemen got nothing going offensively, managing a total of only 4 hits on the night.  The Gatemen will get a day off tomorrow when the CCBL All-Star game is being held at Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts.  Wareham will play again on Friday night vs. the Orleans Cardinals at Eldredge Park starting at 7:00pm.
