Gatemen Announce 2009 Internet Broadcast Team

The Wareham Gatemen have completed their search and teamed up the 2009 Wareham Gatemen Broadcast Team.  Kevin Copp, a University of Geogia Englishand Broadcast Journalism major and Alex Perlman, a Syracuse University Broadcast Journalism & Political Science major at Syracuse’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, will work together all summer to bring you live broadcasts of Wareham Gatemen Baseball.

Once again, the Wareham Gatemen will partner with Teamline – TRZ to bring you FREE live video broadcasts of all preseason, regular season and playoff home games.  Our Teamline stream will include some new features including DVR-like functionality, larger screen size options and an improved video quality.  In addition, the Gatemen are finalizing plans to bring you live audio for a number of away games for this upcoming season.  More details will follow as we continue to prepare for the summer.

The organization is very excited about the pairing of our new internet broadcast team.  Kevin Copp is a rising senior at the University of Georgia majoring in broadcast journalism and English.  He began as a play-by-play announcer for the Viking Channel, the cable-access television station at Upper Merion Area High School in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania.  At UGA, he currently serves as the play-by-play announcer for women’s soccer, volleyball, and softball for GXtra, the exclusive online content provider for the Athletic Association.  In addition, Kevin co-hosts a weekly sports talk show for the student-run radio station on campus, WUOG 90.5 FM, and was the beat writer for the men’s golf, women’s basketball, and women’s gymnastics teams for The Red & Black student newspaper. Kevin has interned part-time in the media relations departments at Temple University and Georgetown University, as well as Comcast SportsNet in Bethesda, Maryland.

Kevin’s broadcast partner is Alex Perlman who hails from just outside New York City and is a Broadcast Journalism and Political Science dual major at Syracuse University.  At school, he calls basketball games and is the founder and co-host of a weekly sports talk show.  Alex acted professionally in his earlier years, appearing on HBO and Late Night with Conan O’Brien. He is thrilled to join the Gatemen organization, though Alex hopes he can still find a way to root for the Yankees in Red Sox country.

The Gatemen Broadcast Team will continue to not only bring you play-by-play coverage and exclusive interviews with Gatemen players and coaches throughout the season but will continue the tradition of interacting with fans & parents during games via email.  Additionally, we hope to introduce a nightly trivia contest where one lucky fan with the correct answer will win a Gatemen gift courtesy of “Gatemen Gear”; our official Wareham Gatemen merchandise provider.  Our Gatemen post-game show will continue to feature an exclusive interview with Heach Coach Cooper Farris as well as the “player of the game”.  The broadcast team also hopes to continue with the production of “Gatemen Weekly”; a 1/2 show dedicated to Gatemen news, player interviews and game recaps.
