Falmouth/Wareham preview, plus news & notes

Falmouth (5-1) vs. Wareham (4-2)

Probable Starting Pitchers: FALMOUTH – Brendan King (1-0, 2.70), RHP; WAREHAM – Jake Walters (1-0, 0.00 ERA), RHP

Preview: Tonight’s matchup features a rematch of just this past Monday where the Commodores handed the Gatemen what was at the time their first loss of the season, 5-4. The Gatemen will look to get some retribution on Friday night when they hand the ball over to Jake Walters out of Alabama. Walters, a rising junior at Alabama, has made one start for the Gatemen back on June 12th against Cotuit. He went three innings while surrendering just one hit, walking no one and striking out a batter. By far the most impressive aspect of Walters’ start however, was his fastball command. Throughout his outing he hit between 89 and 91 on the gun with his fastball. Walters was able to throw 19 of the 29 fastballs he threw for strikes.

Falmouth, who is currently in the midst of a four game winning streak, will counter with Brendan King. King, like Walters, also has just one appearance on the season making it against Chatham on June the 10th. During his only outing King went 3.1 innings, giving up one earned run on two hits while striking out three. The Holy Cross junior features a pitching arsenal that includes a fastball that hits around 90 miles per hour, a 12-6 curveball, and a change-up.
