Dominguez and Carraway Lead Mets Over Gatemen

07/28/08 – Dominguez and Carraway Lead Mets Over Gatemen
Hyannis Mets All-Stars 3B Chris Dominguez (Louisville) and RHP Andrew Carroway (Virginia) lived up to their All-Star status and carried the Mets to a 5-1 victory over the Wareham Gatemen. Dominguez, the league leader in homeruns, hit his 9th and 10th homeruns of the season to drive in 3 of the Met’s 5 runs. Carroway was dominating on the mound, facing the Gatemen for the 3rd time this season, going 8 innings, allowing only 5 hits, striking out 8 and giving up only 1 run.

Gatemen Head Coach Cooper Farris postgame interview with S. Eshelman.

Chris Dominguez’s first homer was a solo shot in the 6th off of Gatemen starter Dallas Keuchel (Arkansas). Wareham would cut the lead to 2-1 on a Ryan Pineda (Cal-State Northridge) rbi triple but that would be all for the Wareham offense on the night. Dominguez hit a 2-run shot to left field in the 7th to give the Mets a cushion for starter Carroway. Keuchel went 6 innings, strike out 4, allowed 2 runs and took the loss for Wareham.

The Gatemen drop to 14-21-1 on the season and will hit the road today against the YD Red Sox at 5:00pm at Red Wilson Field.
