WAREHAM, MA: At one point in this game the Wareham Gatemen acutally came back to take a 3-2 in this game. However, there was no stopping Falmouth tonight as they scored a season high 15 runs to win big over the Gatemen.
Falmouth got an incredible 21 hits; highlighted by a seven run 5th inning to jump ahead of the Gatemen in the Western Division on their way to 15-6 victory.
Wareham starter Brent Suter (Harvard) went 4.1 innings, allowed 6 runs and 9 hits. The Gatemen bullpen also had a difficult time containing Falmouth and that included an appearnace in the 9th inning by Daniel Palka; ordinarily a positional player.
Wareham did hold a brief lead in this game. Trailing 2-0 in the 4th, the Gatemen scored runs on an rbi single by Johnny Field (Arizona) and a two run, rbi double by Jeff Reynolds (Harvard) to take 3-2 lead. Falmouth, however, responded immediately by scoring 7 runs in the 5th and sending 13 runners to the plate.
The Gatemen will look to put this game behind them by taking on the first place Hyannis Harbor Hawks at Spillane Field tomorrow night. Matthew Grimes (Georgia Tech) is the expected starting pitcher.
