06/24/08 – Chatham Comes out on Top of Pitcher’s Duel
Wareham Gatemen starting pitcher Brandon Workman (Texas) pitched 5 innings, striking out 10 batters and allowed the only 2 runs of the game in the second inning as the Chatham A’s defeated the Gatemen 2-0 in a rain delayed game at Spillane Field. The A’s scored both of their runs on a Grant Green (USC) double in the 2nd. Overall, Green went 3 for 5 with the 2 rbi. Another USC Trojan, Brad Boxberger, picked up his 3rd save of the season out of the bullpen for Chatham. The Gatemen now hit the road for three straight games over the bridge. Tonight and tomorrow night, the Gatemen will travel to Harwich and take on the Mariners. Robby Broach (Tulane) will start tonight for the Gatemen. On Friday, Wareham will have another chance to take on the A’s in Chatham at Veteran’s Field at 7:00pm.
