Big 2nd Inning Propels Gatemen Over Anglers


CHATHAM, MA:  The Wareham Gatemen scored 5 runs in the 2nd innings on their way to an 8-6 win over the Chatham Anglers; remaining in contention for 2nd place in the CCBL Western Divsion as they look to position themselves for home field advantage in the first round of the playoffs.


Robert Refsnyder (Arizona) and CT Bradford (Mississippi State) each had 2 run singles to highlight the 5 run 2nd inning for Wareham as they built and early 5-1 lead and held on for a win over Chatham (14-26-1) who has already been elminated from playoff contention in the Eastern Division.


Max Muncy (Baylor) added his own 2 run single in the 5th inning give the Gatemen a 7-4 lead over the Anglers who got within a run by putting up 3 runs of their own in the 4th.  John Gianis’ (NC State) 2 run homer highlighted the Chatham 4th.


CT Bradford; making his 2nd relief appearance of the year gave up 2 runs in the 8th inning but Daniel Feehan (UCONN) came out of the bullpen to pick up his 4th save of the season.


Wareham (20-21) won their 2nd consecutive game and can clinch at least 3rd place in the Western Division with a win over the Falmouth Commodores on Sunday.  Josh Turley (Baylor) picked up his league leading 4th win of the season.  Muncy’s 2 rbi give him 21 that is good for 4th in the league and give him a two year total of 46.
