Amlung Effort Not Enough – Braves Shutout Gatemen

WAREHAM, MA:  Five scoreless innings from Gatemen starter Justin Amlung (Louisville) were not enough to keep Wareham(10-13)  from falling for a fourth straight time. The Bourne Braves (10-10-2) rode the hot pitching of Josh Conway (Coastal Carolina) to a 2-0 win.

Conway tossed seven innings of four hit ball, and relievers RC Orlan (UNC) and RJ Alvarez (Florida Atlantic) sealed the deal with consecutive hitless innings to stifle the Gatemen hitters.

After Amlung held the Braves to just three hits over five scoreless innings, Dan Feehan (UConn) took over in the bottom of the sixth. After recording a strike out to start the frame, he allowed four straight base runners on two hits and two walks, the last of which was and RBI single by DJ Hicks (Central Florida) that brought home Kyle Farmer (Georgia) with the games first run. Feehan escaped further trouble in the inning by retiring the next two hitters.

Bourne added an insurance run in the bottom of the seventh when Jason Coats (TCU) sacrifice fly scored Travis Jankowski (Stony Brook).

In the loss, Max Muncy (Baylor) extended his hitting streak to 10 games with a single in the first inning.

Warehams back in action Friday night at Falmouth at 7 PM.
