07/19/08 - Cape Cod Baseball League All-Stars Announced- 3 Gatemen Chosen to West Squad
LHP Dallas Keuchel (Arkansas), RHP Brandon Workman (Texas) and 3B Raynor Cambell (Baylor) have been named to the CCBL Western Division All-Star team. They will play the CCBL Eastern Division All-Stars in Chatham on July 26th at 6:00pm in the annual Under Armour CCBL All-Star Game.
RHP Max Perlman (Harvard) has been named as an alternate and OF Blake Dean (LSU) will participate in the Baseball Express Homerun Hitting Contest.
Keuchel has shined on the mound this season for the Gatemen; compiling a 1-1 record, a 1.60 era and 30 strikeouts. Brandon Workman leads the CCBL in strikeouts with 50, took a no-hitter into 9th inning of a game vs. Cotuit, has a 2.27 era and is 2-2 for Wareham. Gatemen lead-off hitter Raynor Cambell has been among the league leaders in batting average all season; currently sitting at .323 with 1 homer and 7 rbi.
Max Perlman is 3-1 on the season with 19 strikeouts and a 2.2 era and is part of a strong Wareham Gatemen starting rotation. Blake Dean, coming off a season at LSU where he hit over 20 homers, was named a Baseball America First Team All-American and led the Tigers to the College World Series, will participate in the homerun hitting contest for the second consecutive season. Last year in Wareham, teammate Luke Murton (Georgia Tech) won the contest.
