Wareham, MA ---The Wareham Gatemen, a franchise of the Cape Cod Baseball League, will be hosting the inaugural “Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC) Night” at their home game Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at Spillane Field, Viking Drive, Wareham. While their baseball opponent that evening will be the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox, the big winner of the night will be the PMC participants and their benefactors. Festivities begin at 6:30pm.
The Gatemen plan to honor those who will be participating in the PMC by donating their share of the famed ‘50/50 ‘ raffle funds to the PMC in honor of longtime Gatemen President/GM John Wylde, who died from liver bile duct cancer in February.
“The PMC is honored that the Cape Cod Baseball League is recognizing our efforts during the week of our 30th annual ride” indicated Billy Starr, Founder/Executive of the Pan-Mass Challenge. “The PMC attracts hundreds of Cape Cod riders and volunteers annually. For 30 years we have crossed Cape Cod to finish in Provincetown. Together through awareness and fundraising we can make our $30 million goal and hit a home run for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.”
The 30th annual Pan-Mass Challenge will take place August 1st and 2nd, beginning in Sturbridge and ending 192 miles later in Provincetown. The Massachusetts Maritime Academy in Buzzards Bay is the site of the first day layover. For further information on the PMC, please visit their website at www.pmc.org.
